Vestige is the stool that embodies the notion of time and its impact on objects. The designer is raising awareness on mass production by making the disappearance of objects visible. In the imagination that every objects would leave a skin behind before they disappear, Vestige marks the existence of the Butterfly stool from Sori Yanagi, iconic furniture in design history The stool is made from a wire mesh structure that holds a latex skin. The latter is mixed with steel dust, a waste material rarely re-used collected in metal industries. The dust is mixed with the latex and provides beautiful shades of green as it dries, resembling the texture of the animal skins.
